Who We Are
Dare is a mobile app and website operated by Nadim Kamal under the Dare name. In this policy, "Dare", "we", "us", and "our" mean the operator of the Dare app and appdare.com.
Privacy contact for privacy questions, rights requests, and deletion requests: support@appdare.com.
Scope
This policy applies to the Dare mobile apps, appdare.com, support communications, and related services. App stores, payment providers, social sign-in providers, ad networks, analytics providers, and device platforms may also process information under their own policies.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide, information created when you use Dare, and information from service providers that help us run the app.
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Account and profile | Username, display name, profile photo, authentication provider, account identifiers, email if provided by sign-in or support. | Create accounts, identify users, prevent abuse, restore access, provide support. |
| Game and social activity | Games joined or created, room or invite status, questions submitted, answers, votes, scores, participation records, in-app messages, reports, blocks, and privacy settings. | Run gameplay, show content to intended players, enforce safety rules, prevent cheating and abuse. |
| Matchmaking signals | Eligibility, region or country, language, app version, availability, game preferences, gameplay activity, privacy settings, blocks, reports, safety status, prior interactions, device or platform signals, and account settings. | Suggest or connect players, rooms, or groups; improve match quality; reduce abuse; and prioritize user safety. |
| Device and usage | Device type, operating system, app version, app events, crash logs, performance data, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, push notification tokens, advertising or app instance identifiers where permitted. | Secure and improve Dare, debug issues, measure activation and retention, send notifications you allow, detect fraud. |
| Photos and media | Profile images or media you choose to upload. Camera or photo-library access is requested only when you use a feature that needs it. | Let you set or change profile media and display it inside Dare. |
| Purchases | Product purchased, subscription status, entitlement state, transaction identifiers, store receipts. We do not receive your full payment-card number from Apple or Google. | Provide paid features, restore purchases, manage refunds and disputes, comply with tax and accounting rules. |
| Support and legal requests | Email address, messages to us, proof needed to verify a deletion, access, or safety request. | Respond to you, verify requests, keep records of rights requests and safety actions. |
Do not submit highly sensitive information, illegal content, or content that violates another person's rights. User-generated questions and messages can be visible to other players depending on the feature you use.
Anonymity
Anonymity to other players. When you submit an anonymous question, other players in the room cannot see who asked it. There is no in-app feature, free, paid, or opt-in, that lets other players reveal the asker's identity. We do not sell this association, share it with advertisers, or expose it through analytics that other players can access.
What we know internally. To run the game safely, our systems may associate questions with the account that submitted them. Trained staff and trusted service providers may access that association only for narrow purposes, such as investigating reported abuse, enforcing these Terms, responding to a valid legal request, preventing fraud, or protecting users from imminent harm. We restrict access to a need-to-know basis and do not use it for marketing.
This internal question-to-account association is not used for advertising targeting or partner ad-tech.
When disclosure may be required. A court order, subpoena, valid government request, or specific safety emergency may require us to disclose information about an asker to law enforcement, a regulator, or another legally authorized party. Where lawful and reasonable, we will try to notify the affected account before disclosure.
What we cannot promise. Other players may guess, infer, or make assumptions based on context, writing style, timing, or what you choose to write. Do not include personal, identifying, illegal, or sensitive content in a question.

Legal Bases For EEA And UK Users
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
| Processing activity | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing accounts, games, rooms, messages, purchases, support, and requested features. | Contract. |
| Providing matchmaking, improving match quality, applying blocks and safety status, and limiting unsafe or abusive matches. | Contract, legitimate interests, consent where required. |
| Securing Dare, preventing abuse, cheating, fraud, spam, and unauthorized access. | Legitimate interests, legal obligation where required. |
| Debugging, crash analysis, product quality, non-sensitive performance measurement, and source-quality measurement. | Legitimate interests, consent where required for non-essential SDKs or cookies. |
| Push notifications, device permissions, personalized advertising, tracking, or non-essential SDK processing. | Consent where required. |
| Keeping purchase, tax, accounting, rights-request, safety, and legal records. | Legal obligation, legitimate interests. |
Third-Party Services
Dare may use third-party SDKs and services, depending on your platform, app version, region, and consent settings. These may include:
- Firebase and Google services for authentication, analytics, cloud storage, databases, messaging, app integrity, crash or performance infrastructure, and Google sign-in.
- Apple services for Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, subscription management, and Apple privacy controls.
- Google Play, Google Mobile Ads or AdMob, and Google Play Billing for Android distribution, ads, purchases, and subscriptions.
- Unity LevelPlay mediation and related ad-network partners for ad delivery, mediation, measurement, fraud prevention, and reward verification where enabled.
- Amplitude and Mixpanel for product analytics.
- Branch for attribution, app links, deferred deep links, and invite links.
- Meta/Facebook SDK components configured in the current mobile app build for platform integrations, app events, advertising-related identifiers, or attribution.
These providers may process device identifiers, app events, IP addresses, and other data according to their own policies. We aim to configure third-party tools consistently with your consent choices, platform privacy controls, and applicable law.
Advertising, Analytics, And Tracking Choices
We use analytics to understand whether people reach meaningful play moments, such as starting a game, completing a first turn, and inviting others. Canonical analytics should not include question text, asker identifiers, full player lists, raw email, or raw phone numbers.
Where required, we request consent before personalized advertising, tracking, or non-essential SDK processing. On iOS, you can use Apple's App Tracking Transparency controls. On Android, you can use Google advertising ID controls, including reset or deletion of your advertising ID and limiting ad personalization where available. We also honor platform privacy controls where required.
Where applicable, our consent tooling may use IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.2) and IAB Global Privacy Platform (GPP) signals to communicate advertising consent, opt-out choices, and regional privacy choices to participating ad partners.
appdare.com currently uses GA4 for web top-of-funnel measurement, such as page views and store-button clicks. The website does not measure app installs by itself. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the appdare.com GA4 loader does not load.
For website cookies and browser storage, see our Cookies Notice. GA4 and landing-page attribution on appdare.com load only after analytics consent.
Where applicable law recognizes Global Privacy Control, we treat a GPC signal sent by your browser as an opt-out request for sale, sharing, or targeted advertising on appdare.com.
We honor Global Privacy Control where applicable. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because there is no consistent industry standard for that signal.
You can request opt-out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain analytics by using Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Privacy Choices or contacting support@appdare.com.
Matchmaking
If you use matchmaker or similar features, Dare may use matchmaking signals to suggest or connect you with players, rooms, or groups you may not already know. These signals may include eligibility, region or country, language, app version, availability, game preferences, gameplay activity, privacy settings, blocks, reports, safety status, prior interactions, device or platform signals, and account settings.
The main parameters used by matchmaker are game preferences, language, region or country, availability, blocks and safety status, and prior interactions. If matchmaker settings are available in your app version, you can use them to change available matchmaker preferences or disable matchmaker. You can also contact us through Privacy Choices.
We do not intentionally use sensitive traits such as health information, biometric identity, race, ethnic origin, religious beliefs, union membership, sex-life information, or precise geolocation for matchmaking unless you choose to provide that information in user content or the use is required or permitted for safety, legal, or consent-based reasons.
Where a user is a minor under applicable law, including 17-year-old users in places where the age of majority is 18, we do not knowingly present advertisements to that user based on profiling of their personal data where prohibited by law. We may apply additional safety controls, default restrictions, visibility limits, contact limits, reporting controls, or advertising limits to support a higher level of privacy, safety, and security.
Blocking, reporting, privacy settings, safety actions, and account status may affect future matchmaking. You may object to certain matchmaking-related profiling where applicable law gives you that right, but doing so may limit or disable matchmaker features.
Automated Decision-Making, AI, And Profiling
We may use automated systems, rules, machine learning, or AI-assisted tools to help operate Dare, provide matchmaking, organize gameplay, detect spam, fraud, cheating, abuse, safety risks, or technical issues, and support moderation or customer service.
We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing without meaningful human review where that review is required by law. You can object to certain profiling or appeal certain automated moderation decisions through Privacy Choices or by contacting support@appdare.com.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or rectify, delete or erase, export or port, restrict processing, object to processing, withdraw consent, and challenge certain automated decisions. You may also have the right to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling where those rights apply.
To make a request, use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Privacy Choices or contact support@appdare.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. For California requests, we aim to acknowledge receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days, with extensions where allowed. For EEA and UK requests, we aim to respond within 30 days, with extensions where allowed for complex requests.
If we deny your request, you may have the right to appeal by replying to our decision email. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
To request account deletion, use Delete Your Account or email us from the address connected to your account if possible and include "Dare account deletion" in the subject. We will provide the required verification steps. Some information may be retained where required for security, legal compliance, tax, payment, dispute, or fraud-prevention reasons.
California And US State Privacy Notice
We do not exchange personal information directly for money. Some advertising, analytics, attribution, or SDK activity may be considered a "sale", "sharing", or "targeted advertising" under certain US state privacy laws even when no money changes hands. You can opt out through Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Privacy Choices.
We may collect the categories listed above, including identifiers, account information, internet or electronic network activity, approximate location, commercial information, user-generated content, audio/visual content you provide, and inferences from app usage.
Certain identifiers, account login information, precise geolocation if ever collected with permission, and sensitive content you choose to provide may be treated as sensitive personal information under some laws. We use and disclose those categories for the purposes described in this policy. We do not intentionally collect government ID numbers, genetic data, biometric templates used for identification, health diagnosis data, racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, union membership, or sex-life information unless a user chooses to send that information in user content or a support request.
We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of users under 17. If we later discover that we processed information for a user under 17, we will review and limit that processing where required by law. Rewarded video advertising, if offered, may provide an in-game reward for viewing an ad; we treat that as a service feature and not as payment for personal information. We do not knowingly show rewarded ads based on profiling to users who are minors where prohibited by law.
California "Shine the Light" requests under Civil Code section 1798.83, where applicable, may be sent to support@appdare.com.

Children And Teen Users
Dare is not for children under 17. If you are under 17, do not use Dare. If you are between 17 and the age of majority where you live, you may use Dare only with permission from a parent or legal guardian and only if the app is lawful for you in your location.
If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe a child under 17 has used Dare or provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete the information where required. If we determine that we collected personal information from a user under 17, we will delete it as quickly as practicable, typically within 30 days unless a different period is required or allowed by law. Parents and guardians may also contact us to ask about reviewing, correcting, deleting, or limiting a minor's information where applicable law gives them that right.
Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide Dare, comply with law, resolve disputes, protect users, and enforce our Terms. Our target retention periods are:
- Account and profile data: while your account is active, then deleted or de-identified within 90 days after verified account deletion, unless longer retention is required.
- Gameplay, rooms, questions, answers, and messages: up to 18 months after creation or last activity, then deleted or de-identified, unless needed for safety, disputes, legal obligations, or user-requested history.
- Reports, blocks, moderation actions, and safety records: up to 3 years after the last related action, or longer where needed to prevent repeat abuse or comply with law.
- Analytics events: up to 14 months where configurable, then deleted, aggregated, or de-identified.
- Crash logs, diagnostics, and security logs: usually up to 90 days, unless needed for an investigation or legal obligation.
- Purchase, tax, accounting, chargeback, and legal records: up to 7 years or the period required by law.
- Inactive accounts: may be deleted or de-identified after 12 months of inactivity, subject to legal, safety, tax, accounting, dispute, backup, and platform obligations.
- Backups: rolling backups may persist for up to 35 days before being overwritten, unless isolated for security or legal reasons.
Deleting your account may permanently remove access to games, messages, progress, entitlements, and other app data controlled by Dare. Except where required by law or app-store rules, we are not required to restore data, progress, virtual items, or account access after deletion, suspension, termination, device loss, app removal, or local data loss.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including encrypted transport where supported, platform security controls, access limits, authentication controls, provider security features, and review of sensitive access where appropriate. No online service, device, app store, cloud provider, or third-party SDK is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we become aware of a data breach that requires notice under applicable law, we will notify regulators within 72 hours where required and notify affected users without undue delay where required.
Israel Privacy Notice
Because Dare is operated by an Israeli resident, Israeli privacy law may apply to some processing. You may contact us at support@appdare.com to ask about personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion where applicable, or raise a privacy concern.
Where Israel's Privacy Protection Law applies, you may have rights including access to information about you and correction of inaccurate information under applicable sections of that law.
Israel has been recognized by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of protection for personal data. Where other international transfers require safeguards, we use the mechanisms described below.
International Transfers
Dare and its providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, adequacy decisions, provider data-transfer mechanisms, or other legally recognized mechanisms.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as updating the date above, posting a notice, or providing an in-app notice where appropriate.
